Family, colleagues and friends of the late Fijian Ambassador to Indonesia, Selaima Kalouniviti Veisamasama, can still be part of her funeral service at the Calvary Temple at 9am today through Facebook livestream.
Following social gathering restrictions and social distancing, her children have set up a Facebook page - “Selaima Veisamasama’s Homecoming” - for people to share in the celebration of their mother’s life.
Mrs Veisamasama passed away on April 10 at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital. She was 63.

Jone Veisamasama said they felt the need to take funeral preparations and honour their mother’s life online.
“We don’t want to let these restrictions dampen the spirit of celebrations in celebrating our mother’s life,” he said in a video message.
“Our mother was someone who greatly impacted the lives of others. We have created this forum to allow you, family and friends from Fiji and abroad to share your memories and share your experiences with our mother and to celebrate her life.
“We don’t live in normal times but we can still do this virtually.”
Her children have requested those who will join in their mother’s commemoration to honour her by wearing bright coloured clothes.
“Our mother was someone who always believed in celebrating people’s lives in the brightest colours possible. We ask if you post videos or pictures, please do it wearing the brightest colours in your wardrobe in true Selaima spirit,” Mr Veisamasama said.
“Our mother was the matriarch of the family, a woman whose heart was guided by God’s spirit. Her life exemplified values of integrity and honesty. Her personality was one that was always open to welcoming everyone from every walk of life.”
She is survived by her five children and three grandchildren.
