The opening of the second Land Transport Authority outlet in Nadi is to cater for the growing volume of traffic in the Western Division.
Minister for Public Works, Meteorological Services, and Transport Ro Filipe Tuisawau revealed this while commissioning the new office yesterday.
He said the move was to cater for the increasing traffic volume, especially in Nadi and surrounding areas.

Ro Filipe commissioned the office at Waimalika and Nadi express office at Martintar.
“It is great that we gave two offices for the people of Nadi,” he said.
“We have been bombarded with complaints regarding service and waiting time with people sometimes sitting in the sun waiting to be served.
“Nadi is seen as high volume in terms of the LTA work such as vehicle licensing. It is very important that we have the facilities which can cater for that,” he said.
“Nadi is a major area of development. It is important for Government to plan a systematic way to alleviate some of the challenges we have today.
Future plans
“We need forward planning in terms of forecasting taking into account the population, and business developments that seemed to be lacking.
“When we look at LTA and transport, the number of the roads, etcetera – could be concurrent with the population growth and development we see around us.”
There are 27545 registered vehicles and 33867 drivers in Nadi.
“There are more drivers than vehicles. I wonder what vehicles they are driving,” Ro Filipe said.
