Before and after post.

Minister for Women, Children, and Poverty Alleviation Lynda Tabuya faced criticism yesterday after her Facebook post about Camilla, the newly crowned Queen Consort.

Ms Tabuya’s post read, ‘Mrs Simpson had the last laugh. To all the women who get blamed for everything, but carry it with so much grace. Smile and wave like the Queen Camilla you are.’

The post received more than 600 reactions, 200 comments, and was shared 54 times at the time of publication last night.

Many criticised the minister’s stance, particularly given the ongoing recognition of Princess Diana as the rightful heir.

Ms Tabuya later edited her post to justify her remarks.

“I note all the comments and shares that immediately pitch Camilla against Diana which has warranted my edit here. I am supporting a woman who has been unfairly blamed for everything, and no one, NO ONE blames Charles,” she later posted.

“She is even unfairly blamed that she killed Diana. She is being unfairly blamed for a forced marriage imposed by patriarchal structures between Diana and Charles to protect the Crown. That’s patriarchy and that is the root cause of gender inequality and discrimination. Remember what Jesus said to the men who were ready to stone the woman?”

Ms Tabuya is yet to respond to questions surrounding the post.
