M-PAiSA users hope Vodafone Fiji acts quickly to respond to their complaints about the $200 Back-to-School Government assistance they expected to receive, but discovered it was sent to other accounts.

On Tuesday, Alisi Vunivalu of Nausori shared an incident on Facebook that happened to her uncle, Sakiusa Rabuli in Savusavu.

She claimed her uncle wasn’t notified as usual via message that the $200 back-to-school assistance made available this week was deposited in his account.

“This time, he didn’t receive a message,” she said.

“He checked his M-PAiSA balance at half-past five on Tuesday morning and found that his balance was $604.”

Ms Vunivalu said after a few minutes, her uncle was told through a message from 181 that the funds were transferred to a man named Ratu Tunamabua.

Shortly after, another message confirmed that her uncle’s M-PAiSA account was blocked and a change of PIN was required.

He was advised thereafter to visit his nearest Vodafone outlet to “activate” his account.

Ms Vunivalu told Fiji Sun that she and her uncle reached out to Ratu Tunamabua, also in Savusavu, but discovered that both his existing balance and the $604 deposit were transferred to a third-party account.
