Long-overdue road resurfacing works will begin soon at Legalega in Nadi.
The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) confirmed this during an on-site community meeting last week between residents and the authority’s acting general manager for Nadi and Sigatoka, Shavneel Kumar.
Mr Kumar said the resurfacing works had been approved and that FRA would coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure essential infrastructure work aligns with the project.

He said the project is expected to begin this month.
“We are finalising the scope at the moment, with the project expected to start in mid-February and finish by the end of the financial year. For me, it should be the end of June,” he said.
Mr Kumar added that the project would cover one kilometre of Qalibito Road and 600 metres of Voivoi Road.
Businessman Mohammed Aiyaz, a resident of the area, said the meeting focused on poor road conditions that have affected the community for years.
“Previously, our pleas fell on deaf ears, and it affected our daily travel, safety, and access for families living in the Legalega area,” he said.
“As residents, we welcome the update and thank FRA for meeting the community directly and providing clarity on the long-awaited works.”
Sumeet Prasad, a Nadi Chamber of Commerce board member, welcomed the update.
“The road upgrade is planned to be completed by June 2026, with stakeholders working together to ensure the project progresses smoothly,” he said.
