Man Convicted for Rape, Sexual Assault

He has been given 30 days to appeal the verdict to the Fiji Court of Appeal.

A Lami man has been convicted of sexually assaulting and raping his female colleague.

The offences occurred in Lami on November 1, 2023.

The 23-year-old complainant, who was also a raped as a young girl, was living with the offender at the time.

Justice Pita Bulamainaivalu ruled that the prosecution had proven beyond reasonable doubt that the man unlawfully and indecently assaulted the victim.

The court heard that the offences took place while the man's wife was away in Labasa on a work trip.

He has been given 30 days to appeal the verdict to the Fiji Court of Appeal.
