Man Denies Murder of Two-Year-Old

A 28-year-old man facing a murder charge has pleaded not guilty at the High Court in Suva.
Christopher Narayan appeared before Justice Vinsent Perera yesterday.
Narayan is charged with one count of murder of two-year-old, Jasleen Jasprit Kumar, on March 4, 2019, at Nakasi.

He was charged alongside with his partner Louisa Kumar.
State Prosecutor from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Mezabeen Khan had filed a nolle prosequi (a formal notice to discontinue or dismiss legal proceedings) for Kumar.
Justice Perera had discharged the accused from the case and ordered for Kumar’s release.
The case was adjourned to May 31 for a pre-trial conference in the matter of Narayan.
Narayan was further remanded in custody by the High Court.
