A man in his 30s has died following a serious crash along the Queens Highway near Wainigasau, Lami, on Wednesday night.
Police say the victim was a passenger in a vehicle driven by another man in his 30s, who allegedly lost control, veered into the opposite lane and collided head‑on with an oncoming car.
The passenger was rushed to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in critical condition but died from his injuries the following day.

This latest incident brings the national road death toll to seven so far this year, compared with two for the same period in 2025.
Police are again urging motorists to remain alert and practise safe road behaviour at all times.
“Accidents will happen when one becomes complacent with their safety. Road safety is a shared responsibility,” a Police statement said.
