Man Who Allegedly Stabbed Partner Granted Bail
He is charged with one count each of attempted murder and assault causing actual bodily harm.

A33-year-old man charged with attempted murder has been granted bail by the High Court in Suva.
Anil Chand appeared before Justice Chamath Morais.

It is alleged that on July 25, 2018, Chand who was in a relationship with the complainant went to her flat in Vatuwaqa, Suva and confronted her on why she wanted to leave him.
Chand had allegedly taken a knife along with him and stabbed the complainant several times on her back and abdomen.
It is alleged the complainant’s sister ran into the room after hearing her scream, where she was also allegedly stabbed by the accused.
State prosecutor from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Eoghan Samisoni told the court that the State would not object to the bail of the accused as the complainant in the matter had moved to another place and there was a less chance of likelihood of interference.
Justice Morais said the accused’s bail was once refused by Justice Daniel Goundar however, he was granted bail to the accused on the surety bail bond sum of $1000.
Chand was also ordered to report to the Rakiraki Police Station every Sunday between 6am and 6pm with strict bail conditions.
The case was adjourned to July 10.
