Matilda Simpson was badged the head girl of Suva Grammar School on Thursday, marking a significant milestone in her leadership journey.

Matilda, a determined and inspiring young leader, follows in the footsteps of her father and brother, who both held prominent leadership roles at the school, making her appointment even more meaningful.

In 1995, her father served as head boy, and in 2020, her brother followed suit as head boy, creating a strong family legacy of leadership at the school.

Matilda’s appointment is a proud moment not only for her family as she continues to uphold and build on the traditions of leadership and excellence within the school.

“Getting this role is a privilege for me, it’s an honour, I’m very proud,” Matilda said, who stressed that respect would be a cornerstone of her leadership approach.

Her appointment as head girl is a testament to her character, the values instilled by her family, and the leadership potential she holds.

“We want to encourage overall respect, seniors to juniors, juniors to seniors,” Matilda explained.

“Seeing each other for the humans that we are and having consideration for one another,” she said.

In the future, Matilda revealed her interest in energy production, particularly hydrogen energy which she learned about during the JENESYS programme in Japan.

Inoke Rabukawaqa was badged the head boy of the school.

Both leaders identified addressing issues such as bullying as a priority for their tenure.

Inoke, echoed similar sentiments in his vision for the school, adding, “love one another, have respect for each other, and have unity.”

“We run together as a school, as a family, with the pride of Lions,” he said.

Inoke expressed his passion for CyberTech and contributing to the IT sector.

With both school heads strong sense of purpose and commitment, they are poised to inspire the next generation of leaders at Suva Grammar School.
