Repealing the Media Industry Development Act 2010 does not mean that media organisations can report on everything without authentic sources and facts.
Attorney-General Siromi Turaga made the statement in Parliament on Monday while moving the motion under Standing Order 51 that the Media Industry Development (Repeal) Bill 2023 be debated tomorrow.
He said repealing the act provided a start to ensuring that information reaching Fijian citizens was not limited by overbearing regulations by Government.
