During this COVID-19 pandemic, people tend to find ways in making money and earning an income, but for Apisalome Baleibau, charity and looking out for his community comes first.

The 56- year-old said despite his medical condition, he continued to assist others by providing them fresh vegetables and root crops from his farm for free.

He said he was asthmatic problem and doctors advised him that both of his lungs were not in a healthy state.

“My condition was very worse from the years 1998 until 2011, when I was admitted at the Labasa Hospital,” Mr Baleibau said.

He said in 2012 he began with his own treatment using natural herbs and medicine to cure his condition.

Mr Baleibau is now in a stable condition and he attributed this improvement to God.

“I try my best to help people who are poor, children who are without parents, separated families with the vegetables and root crops I have,” he mentioned said.

The father of three children said they too were struggling to make ends meet financially and they depended on social welfare monthly allowances.
