Meeting This Week For Road Slip And Affected Roads Up North: Usamate

Jone Usamate said they will have a meeting this week to map out the use of Lomaloma slip (transinsular road) in the Northern Division and other affected roads.
The Minister for Infrastructure, Meteorological Services, Lands and Mineral Resources was in the area on Saturday, expressing his concern over the use of the single lane proposed by the Fiji Roads Authority.
“We are going to have a meeting this week to review whether we can still use the single lane or not,” Mr Usamate said.

“I am worried about the cracks appearing on the road caused during Tropical Cyclone Ana.”
He said there was still a lot of moisture in the soil and continuous heavy rain posed further threat.
“My advice to the motorists especially while driving through the night to be careful while driving at the bend,” he said.
