Men control nearly two-thirds of the Fiji National Provident Fund's total wealth despite membership numbers being almost equal between genders, the Fund revealed this week.

"In terms of count, 55.5 per cent of our members are male and 44.5 per cent are female," Mr Vodonaivalu said.

"But when we look at share of wealth, males hold 63.8 per cent of total member funds, while females hold 36.2 per cent."
He said the figures highlight an important disparity in retirement savings between men and women.
"While membership numbers are relatively balanced, the share of retirement savings is not," Mr Vodonaivalu said.
He said the gap shows why financial literacy, retirement awareness, and encouraging voluntary contributions remain key priorities for the Fund.
"It's a reminder of why financial literacy, retirement awareness, and encouraging voluntary contributions, especially among women, remain important priorities for us," he said.
Mr Vodonaivalu said FNPF's total membership currently stands at 436,860 members.
He added that the Fund remains committed to helping every member build a stronger, more secure retirement regardless of gender.
"Overall, our membership continues to grow, and we remain committed to helping every member, regardless of gender, build a stronger, more secure retirement," Mr Vodonaivalu said.
