The Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete has confirmed the Endocrinology Analyser machine at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital is now working.

The machine is used for testing different hormones and tumour markers in the blood.

Dr Waqainabete said the ministry had ordered parts of the machine from New Zealand, which arrived on Thursday, and the machine was repaired on the same day.

“In light of this issue, the Health Ministry had assisted those who might have required this service by bearing the cost of tests to be carried out externally.

“Our machine had broken down about a week and half ago, but as soon as it broke we had organised the parts from New Zealand and appropriate procumbent processes was done.

“The part arrived from New Zealand yesterday (Thursday) and the machine was repaired and running.

“We had responded to those who needed the test and paid for it from own finances by sending them to other places for the tests to be carried out,” Dr Waqainabete said.
