Minister directs investigation on Hibiscus sexual harassment claim

The Suva City Council has been instructed to investigate an allegation of sexual harassment that took place during a Miss Hibiscus Festival event.

The directive was issued by the Minister for Local Government, Maciu Nalumisa, to the council's chairperson, Special Administrator Tevita Boseiwaqa.

Mr Nalumisa expressed concern over how the Hibiscus committee handled the situation.

"The ministry has zero tolerance for any form of misconduct," he said.

The minister stressed the importance of safety and dignity for all participants, adding that the ministry was committed to ensuring that public events remained safe and respectful.
