Minister of Health Embarks on North Tour

The Minister for Health and Medical Services, Dr Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu has embarked on a two-week tour of the Northern Division.

He has been visiting health centres, nursing stations, sub-divisional hospitals and will continue to do so until Friday.

Bua Province

As part of his tour of the Bua Province, Ratu Atonio visited several health facilities, including the Nabouwalu Sub-Division Hospital, Wainunu Health Centre, Kubulau Nursing Station, and Nakorovatu Health Centre.

During his visits, he spoke with personnel serving at these outposts. Wainunu Health Centre nurse Ranjaleen Prasad had an opportunity to discuss her needs and difficulties faced while serving at the remote station.

She expressed gratitude for being able to discuss ways to address challenges she faced.

Macuata

The Northern Health Services will provide maintenance for health facilities in the Macuata Province soon.

The maintenance work will begin in the third quarter of Government’s financial year, which starts next month and runs until April.

Dr Lalabalavu and his team also visited the Naqumu Health Centre in the Naduri Coast, Dreketi Health Centre, and Seaqaqa Health Centre.

A Fiji Pharmaceutical Biomedical Services team led by its director Jeremaia Mataika, assessed the medical stock and equipment needs of these facilities.

CAKAUDROVE

Health inspectors based in Savusavu received a new vehicle for surveillance and monitoring activities aligned with the ministry.

FREE HEALTH SCHEME

About 2000 people in the areas the minister visited were successfully registered under the Free Health Scheme.

Those registered can now access 147 different medications for free in public and private pharmacies.
