Ministry farewells director Soko
Ms Soko was farewelled on Thursday evening by the Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Sakiasi Ditoka and with his assistant minister, Jovesa Vocea.

National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) Director Vasiti Soko (inset) has been a familiar face and voice in television, radio and newspapers during natural disasters, all of which will come to an end as she now embarks on a new chapter in the United States of America.
Fijians know Ms Soko at the forefront of advising Fijians about precautionary measures and the latest evacuation centre operations.
Ms Soko was farewelled on Thursday evening by the Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Sakiasi Ditoka and with his assistant minister, Jovesa Vocea.

“Her contributions have been nothing short of extraordinary. Under her leadership, the NDMO has become a model of excellence, recognised for its proactive strategies and innovative approaches to disaster preparedness, mitigation and response,” Mr Ditoka said.
“She has worked tirelessly to strengthen our national disaster management framework, ensuring that our communities are better equipped to handle the ever-growing challenges of climate change and natural disasters.”
Ms Soko had been in the position for five years and was the first female to the post.
