More than 10,000 transportation complaints were received by the Ministry of Education (MoE) last year.

This accounts for more than one-third of issues reported nationwide, according to documents presented in Parliament.

This information was provided in response to a written question from Opposition Member of Parliament, Hem Chand to the Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro last month.

The statistics revealed the Lautoka/Nadi/Yasawa district recorded the highest number of transportation complaints with 10,265 issues, while classroom concerns numbered just 27 nationwide.

Overall, the ministry received 28,991 complaints across all categories in 2024, with ‘Any Other Complaints’ forming the largest category at 12,154 reports.

Teacher availability issues totaled 196 complaints, while student-related matters accounted for 381 reports across the country.

In response to the issues, the Ministry outlined a four-point improvement plan which included standardised documentation processes, a five-day maximum response time, centralised monitoring, and improved accountability measures.

The ministry said the monthly summary reports would now be compiled and sent to the MoE headquarters to analyse complaint trends and address recurring issues.
