Hundred and sevety-five Fijians have been selected to work in Australia under the Pacific Labour Scheme.

Minister for Employment Parveen Bala in responding to a question by FijiFirst Member of Parliament Vijay Nath in parliament yesterday said that the next group were expected to leave in October.

Mr Bala said this has been deferred due to the rising COVID cases in New South Wales.

He added as COVID cases escalated in parts of Australia and New Zealand, the Ministry was working round the clock to ensure the welfare issues of Fijian workers are identified and managed.

The minister also said that all returning Fijian workers would be closely monitored to ensure that their earnings were put to good use.
