Mother Charged for Assaulting Teacher
It is alleged she entered Vunika Primary School in Labasa on Wednesday around 8am and assaulted a Year One class teacher for giving her daughter the back to school assistance form to fill.

A parent who allegedly assaulted a teacher inside the classroom was remanded by the Magistrate’s Court in Labasa on Friday.
Shahila Bi, who is charged with one count of assault, appeared before Magistrate Amelia Vavadakua.
She was represented by Legal Aid Commission lawyer Iosefo Rusaqoli.

The case was called again later in the afternoon for her to arrange a surety so that she could be released on bail.
In a separate case, the accused also appeared for one count of assault. The complainant in this case is her mother. However, she couldn’t secure surety.
Police prosecutor Constable Bimlesh Chand requested if the accused could be referred to Saint Giles Hospital to get psychiatric examination.
He said told the court that according to the investigator officer, Bi had not been cooperating with Police and had remained quiet.
Magistrate Vavadakua agreed to send her for medical examination and remanded her. The case has been adjourned to November 19.
