Walking to the sea to fish for crabs is my way to provide, but this support means I don’t have to carry that burden alone anymore,” she said.

Miriama Naisaboca, of Nasaumatua, Daku, Tailevu, has been working hard raising her children.

Life hasn’t been easy. Many nights, while her children slept, Ms Naisaboca would quietly walk to the sea, battling cold winds and rain, gathering seafood for her family.

The struggle was real and unspoken. It’s her daily sacrifice as a mother.

“Walking to the sea to fish for crabs is my way to provide, but this support means I don’t have to carry that burden alone anymore,” she said.

For years, Ms Naisaboca faced impossible choices: whether to buy school supplies or enough food, how to stretch a meal for her children, how to keep hopes alive when the nights felt endless. The weight of these worries pressed on her quietly, but heavily.

“Government’s education assistance has given us hope—a hope that our children can dream big and learn better.” Ms Naisaboca said.

This year, Government’s renewed budget brought more than financial aid—it brought relief and a promise. The support for children’s education meant mothers such as Ms Naisaboca no longer have to choose between basic needs and their children’s future. It was a sign that the struggles of families like hers are seen and heard.

Ms Naisaboca’s nights are still long, but now they carry hope. Thanks to Government’s support, families like hers feel lifted, connected, and reminded that they are not alone.

“This assistance reminds me that even in the darkest nights, there is a light guiding us forward.”
