Mothers Are Everyday Heroines

Let us show compassion, love and respect to all mothers and thank them for being a heroine every single day.
Those were the words of encouragement from the Minister for Women Mereseini Vuniwaqa when she launched Courts Mother’s Day promotion yesterday.
She said it was the sacrifice, love and resilience of a mother that kept a family together.

“Far too many times, we deprive mothers of the opportunities to realise their full potential,” Ms Vuniwaqa said.
“This Mother’s Day, let us gift our mothers with compassion, let us share her work, care for her and thank her for her greatness despite all odds.”
She said it was heartwarming to see that Courts continued to support Fijian women, helping create equitable opportunities for them in the ways possible for a corporate organisation.
Courts in association with the Ministry of Women, Children & Poverty Alleviation identified three deserving mothers from the Makoi Women’s Vocational Training Centre who were supported with equipment to help start their businesses.
The three mums are Unaisi Tinai, Sangeeta Devi and Ilisapeci.
Courts supported Mrs Tinai with the Hisense Electronic Toaster Oven to get her baking business started.
Meanwhile, Ms Sangeeta and Ms Ilisapeci received a Singer sewing machine each to explore and expand on the opportunities available in the sewing industry.
