A grieving mother is struggling to come to terms with losing her only two sons within three months, after a road accident in Sigatoka claimed the life of 39-year-old Ratu Luke Ravouvou on Friday.
The former customs officer from Tagaqe Village in Nadroga became the country’s latest road fatality following the crash.
His mother, 70-year-old Ema Ravouvou, said the family was still mourning the death of her elder son when tragedy struck again.

“I have only two sons. As a mother, losing both sons within three months is not easy,” Ms Ravouvou said.
The family had been preparing for the traditional 100-night remembrance for Ratu Luke’s elder brother, who died on February 19 after a short illness.
However, Ms Ravouvou said the ceremony would no longer be held in accordance with iTaukei custom following the second death in the family.
Ratu Luke is survived by his wife, Elina Nadruku, and their daughter, Tokasa Lotawa.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the victim allegedly lost control of his vehicle while driving towards Olosara, causing it to veer onto the opposite lane and collide with an oncoming vehicle.
“Both drivers were rushed to Sigatoka Hospital, where the 39-year-old passed away a few hours later,” Ms Naisoro said.
Investigations continue.
