Adi Viniana Tuirewa overcame family separation challenges to graduate from the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) on Friday,

Her proud husband and three children showed up to support her.

The 35-year-old completed her Certificate III in Individual Support (Aging) after a challenging six-month journey that required her to leave her family in Levuka, Ovalau to study in Suva.

"To have kids and a family and  then returning to school and to complete the course in six months not an easy journey," Ms Tuirewa said at the graduation ceremony at the Suva Civic Auditorium.

Her husband Alipate Bolalevu Bukalidi and their three children -Adi Kaukitoga, 9, Karalaini Lella Joyce, 6, and Junior Bolalevu, 1-were present to witness her achievement.

Ms Tuirewa, originally from Taveuni, described being separated from her family during her studies as tough.

She returned home on the weekends.

"I had to sacrifice to achieve this today (last Friday)," she said.

When asked about advice for other women considering further education, she said: "There's no barriers at all. If you're willing to get it, if you're willing to go for it, then you will achieve what you have in mind."
