Negotiations are underway with bus operators in Labasa for the extension of service hours.
This is to cater for the customers demand after 5pm movies at Damodar City Complex and those who visit town in the evenings.
Damodar Group chief executive officer, Div Damodar, revealed that efforts to include public service transport providers remained crucial to solving the nightlife transportation issue.

The friendly town had transformed into a bustling business environment where retail shops at the Damodar Complex are open at night.
“The nightlife in Labasa has grown and this is what our brand Damodar City does, it opens avenues for other business opportunities,” he said.
Apart from the nightlife at Damodar complex, other major events are starting to happen in Vanua Levu after 5pm.
“Another business that has grown is event management and Vanua Levu is starting to thrive in sports, entertainment, wedding and other activities,” he said.
This increase in activities, especially after the normal work routine 5pm, which Labasa Town for so long was accustomed meant transport providers are set to reap benefits.
“We are in talks with some transport companies and we encourage new players to come onboard and optimise this opportunity to grow their business,” Mr Damodar said.

Promoting sports tourism to greater heights will be a priority of the council.
The Damodar City Labasa Hotel will provide 40 rooms to boost Labasa’s hospitality needs.
