Opposition Member of Parliament and spokesperson for Health and Medical Services Penioni Ravunawa calls on Government to invest in upgrading the Valelevu Health Centre in Nasinu with a three or four-storey building.

This is because of the increase in population in the area.

Mr Ravunawa said the centre needed a facelift.

“I am urging Government to provide substantial budgetary support for the renovation and upgrade of the health centre. It must be a priority in the coming National Budget,” he said.

Mr Ravunawa said because of its current state, the centre could not meet the escalating demand for comprehensive and quality healthcare services.

The health centre serves about 60,000 people around the greater Nasinu area.

“The facility, despite being seated on ample land, requires a strategic structural upgrade to maximise available land space, meet service demands, and ensure the respected residents of Nasinu have access to the high-quality health services they rightfully deserve.

“An investment in a three- or four-storey structure would not only substantially enhance the facility’s capabilities, but also improve the healthcare experience for thousands of Nasinu residents.”

Mr Ravunawa said Government must recognise the urgent need to address this issue as health care is not a privilege but a basic human right.

“The residents of Nasinu deserve better,” he said.
