MSAF has commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident in accordance with its regulatory mandate.

The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) has commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding a fatal incident that occurred on the Interlink Ppssenger vessel MV Ohana at Suva wharf earlier this week.

In a media statement, MSAF confirmed they are aware of the incident.

"MSAF extends its condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time," MSAF said in a media statement.

"MSAF has commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident in accordance with its regulatory mandate.

"As investigations are ongoing, MSAF is unable to provide further comment at this stage. Updates will be provided to the public once the investigation has been concluded and findings are available.

MSAF reiterates its commitment to ensuring maritime safety and compliance with established safety standards across Fiji’s maritime transport sector.
