Mukesh Nand Is New Chair Of The Electoral Commission
Mukesh Nand is the new Chairperson of the Electoral Commission. His appointment was confirmed by the President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere. This is in accordance with Chapter 6 of the Fijian Constitution.

Fiji Electoral Commission new members, Ateca Ledua, Parvez Akbar and Sairusi Dukuno.
Mukesh Nand is the new Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.
His appointment was confirmed by the President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere.
This is in accordance with Chapter 6 of the Fijian Constitution.
Related stories
Mr Nand replaces Suresh Chandra who stepped down late last year.
Mr Chandra was first appointed chairman of the Commission in 2017 and was reappointed in 2020.
Other appointments announced by the President include:
Ateca Ledua as a member of the Electoral Commission;
Parvez Akbar as a member of the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission; and
Sairusi Dukuno as the Acting Auditor-General.
Parvesh Sharma has also been confirmed as the Chairperson of the Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission.
All appointments take effect from 24 February 2022.
