Thirteen-year-old Immanuel Petero Saunivalu has been appointed as the head boy of Stella Marist Primary School, a responsibility he embraces with pride and dedication.

Hailing from Namosi Koro in the province of Namosi, with maternal ties to Nacamaki Village on Koro Island in Lomaiviti, Immanuel expressed his deep gratitude for the opportunity to lead his peers.

“Being chosen as head boy is an honour and a responsibility I will take seriously. I am excited to contribute to my school community, take the lead in initiatives, and uphold the values of the school,” Immanuel said.

Immanue believes that strong communication, active listening, and having a clear vision are essential qualities of a great leader.

He is determined to lead by example, ensuring that his fellow students feel motivated and supported in their academic and personal growth.

“My goal this year is to love God more so He can use me to be a blessing to others in what I do. I also want to influence and guide students to strive for the best while upholding the core values of the school which are family spirit, simplicity, love of work, and presence,” he added.

Balancing leadership responsibilities with schoolwork is something Immanuel takes seriously.

He plans to stay organised, reflect on his progress regularly, and maintain a balance through his love for rugby.

“Having breaks in between is important for me. During these breaks, I do rugby training and play with my family and friends. If I need advice, my family, especially my mum, is always there to guide me,” he said.

Immanuel hopes to be the leader who is always present for his fellow students, sharing in their joys and challenges.

MOTHER

His mother, Mere Naulu, expressed her pride in her son’s appointment.

“It is a very humbling experience. I have mixed feelings of pride and confidence in his ability to lead and deliver well,” Ms Naulu said.

Ms Naulu acknowledged that leadership qualities had been evident in her son from an early age, as he naturally motivated those around him.

To support her son in his leadership journey, she has committed to being his number one cheerleader, ensuring he continues to strengthen his faith, and maintaining open communication with him.

The school has a roll of 321 students.
