It was every parent’s worst nightmare.
“It was certainly my worst nightmare. I wished it was just a bad dream. But it was true.”

Mr Nasilasila’s son, Mosese, 23, nicknamed Moji, was found dead on a road at Waiyavi in Lautoka, a victim of an alleged hit-and run on Friday night.
Late Mosese Nasilasila.
“I never imagined that one day I would be asked by a group of Police officers to identify my son’s dead body”.
He said he had seen and read about parents going through this terrible experience in the past.
He did not know that one day he would suffer the same emotional trauma.
Moji, an assistant supervisor at Orion Distribution Services in Nadi, had left their Tomuka home for work as normal on Friday
Mr Nasilasila said Moji didn’t return home on time and this didn’t worry him. He assumed Moji was tasked to do overtime at work.
“I was waiting for him yesterday (Friday) afternoon because his routine every day after work is just to come straight home and have dinner,” he said.
“We were waiting, but he didn’t show up. After 10pm, I asked my wife if Moji was here but she said he wasn’t home yet.
“All of a sudden Police came around 11pm last night (Friday), they gave us an ID from his wallet . They asked us to go to the Lautoka Hospital to identify his body. My heart sank. Yes it was Moji.”
“He is usually at home by 6pm or if he misses the 7.30pm bus which is the last bus, he walks from town to home and so yesterday (Friday) he missed the bus and he walked from town to here in the heavy rain.
“He was a very humble person, very respectful towards me, our neighbours and everyone that he met.”
Mr Nasilasila said before Moji left home on Friday he kissed his wife and his daughter goodbye. It was to be his final goodbye to the family.
Moji’s wife, Lanieta Tuivomo Nasilasila was too distraught to talk.
They were just married a month ago. She was holding his T-shirt and crying.
Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro, said the victim was taken to the hospital by officers from the National Fire Authority but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Ms Naisoro is also requesting the assistance from the public for any information on the alleged incident.
Call the Western Division Police Headquarters on 9905457 or Crime Stoppers on 919.
