Nabiti Village Connects To EFL Grid

Solar and kerosene lights will be a thing of the past for Nabiti villagers in Dreketi.
The village is now connected to the Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) electricity grid which would benefit 360 villagers.
Minister for Infrastructure, Meteorological Services, Lands and Mineral Resources, Jone Usamate commissioned the Electrification Project at the village last Thursday.

Nabiti Village headman, Tevita Rokoqica, said it was an early Easter gift for the village.
“We are grateful and our happiness has doubled with this life-changing resource,” he said.
Mr Rokoqica thanked the Government and Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) for the great initiative.
“We have had two major developments this year, first being the construction of the field latrines and ` electricity, so it has been a year of prosperity for us,” he said.
Mr Rokoqica said students were the most affected because of their inability to charge smartphones for their online educational resources.
Meanwhile, Minister Usamate, said the electrification project was a key part of their commitment towards connecting rural settlements and villages to the energy grid.
He hoped the villagers would make good use of this resource for the betterment and progress of their area.
