Nacula Family Tackles VAT By Planting Own Food

Three families at Nacula Village, Labasa, are urging Fijians to utilise their land.

Tuivanua Kula and Kinijoji Siliyadua, both aged 25 and unemployed, were spotted yesterday morning working in their vegetable, root crop and fruits backyard garden.

“Prices of goods and services always fluctuate and we have experienced that during the COVID-19 pandemic,” Mr Kula said.

“With Government aiming to decrease the nation’s debts, we decided to prepare ourselves for the worse such as now with the increase of VAT.”
