The image of an oncoming bus colliding with the bus Sunia Waqa was travelling in will be etched in his mind forever.

The 23-year-old security officer who was a victim and witness to the freak accident at Votualevu in Nadi, yesterday, says he is grateful to be alive.

Mr Waqa was sitting behind the driver when the incident happened yesterday.

The 7am bus trip was carrying passengers including students while the other bus was empty when the incident happened.

Mr Waqa who had minor injuries from the incident said he was lucky that he was not badly injured.

“When the accident happened, my jaw jarred against the window.

“Luckily, I grabbed my seat or I would have been badly injured. Both the buses were going fast and that is why they collided at the sharp bend.

“The other bus was empty but our bus was full and even had some passengers standing,” he said.
