Nadi crash claims life of one-year-old child

A one-year-old child has become the latest road fatality following a motor vehicle accident near the Barara Bypass in Nadi on Saturday night.

Police said the child was travelling in a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old man from Sabeto. Also in the vehicle were the child's mother, aunt, and two siblings when the vehicle allegedly veered off the road.

All occupants were rushed to Lautoka Hospital, where medical officials later confirmed the child's death.

The remaining passengers and the driver were treated and later discharged.

Police have confirmed the driver will be questioned as investigations into the incident continue.
