The staff members of Nadi Hospital are willing to provide service in medical facilities in locations with a lot of people and growing population.
That was stated by the divisional medical officer West, Doctor Abdul Shah to the Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister, Biman Prasad, yesterday.
Mr Prasad is on his West tour and visited the Nadi Hospital where Dr Shah shared some challenges and ways they thought would ease workloads for staff members.

“The number of patients coming to Nadi Hospital was beyond what our team can handle,” Dr Shah said.
He said the health clinic at the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces’ (RFMF) Blackrock Peacekeeping Camp at Votualevu, was established to cater to the public.
“The Votualevu population is growing and this is one of the development areas.
“There was a time that we used to send doctors and nurses to the clinic at Blackrock.
We had to pull them back to the hospital because the demand was more here.
“We are ready to provide service there if there is an agreement from the Ministry of Health and the RFMF.
I am proposing that we can have a memorandum of understanding between these two organisations to sort out how we can take over that clinic and provide services to people.”
He said the public could not go to the clinic because it was in a restricted area.
“It is within the RFMF boundary.
It is a bit of an inconvenience to the public.
We used to provide nurses and doctors in mid-last year.”
Dr Shah asked Mr Prasad if a health centre could be placed between Sigatoka and Nadi.
“A good location is Yako where there is a growing population.
Setting up health clinics in these areas will ease the load that we have at the Nadi Hospital,” he added. Mr Prasad agreed with Dr Shah on the need for an agreement between Government and RFMF.
