Police will be stringent against people who use Fiji as a hub to transit drugs, says Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Livai Driu.
The Fiji Police Force chief operations officer said a survey by their narcotics department revealed that the highest number of drug users were from Nadi.
“The test was carried out last year. We thought it was Nuku’alofa in Tonga, or South Auckland, New Zealand which is a much bigger place than Nadi.

He said along the Martintar corridor, more drug needles were found lying everywhere.
“It shows that users are confident in using it,” he said.
ACP Driu said investigations were ongoing to find out if Fiji had been used as a hub to transit drugs.
“It could be a controlled movement of these drugs for transit here in Fiji and shifted to other countries,” he said.
“Investigation is still open and we will look into any information from people willing to share or assist us with our work. Sometimes that can last a long period.
“The law will come hard on people who are trying to use Fiji as a hub. We will pounce those involved in drug-peddling and trade.”
