Nadi School Targets Regional Award
The multi-racial and co-ed school has been providing education to students within the vicinity and those travelling from as far as Lautoka and Korovuto area.

Achieving the best district primary school award has boosted Namaka Public School (NPS) contest for the regional award.
Last Friday, the Ministry of Education awarded the school for being the best primary school award for Lautoka/Nadi/Yasawa district for 2024.
“I feel very proud and honoured for the award. We are aiming to make NPS the best in the South Pacific,” head teacher Arvin Kumar said.

Mr Kumar said the award had pushed the school management and teachers to continue planning and delivering the best to the students in all key performing areas in teaching and learning.
“There is now a platform to improve learning environment, stakeholders to work better and provide the best holistic education to all students,” he said.
The school was established in 1962; it is managed by local community members.

Historical year
The school takes part and has been winning in netball, soccer, rugby, athletics, swimming and cricket.
Thirty six students were part of Nadi athletics team for this year’s national games. The school has introduced swimming for kindergarten students as well.
The school has a roll of 1347 students and 33 teachers. There were 140 students enrolled in kindergarten with eight teachers. 176 students set for Fiji Year 8 examination this year; 85 per cent passed.
Students who have passed with flying colours have enrolled at prominent secondary schools like Ratu Kadavulevu School, Queen Victoria School, Marist Brothers High School, Adi Cakobau School, Natabua High School, Swami Vivekananda College, Sangam College and Votualevu College for Year Nine next year.
It recently upgraded its infrastructure with a $400,000 school multiple purpose hall. This facility is used for all school programmes and is also put out for hire as an income generating income project.
“We have also constructed a walkway, mini theatre and invested in IT in classrooms to make lessons more meaningful,” Mr Kumar said.
The school also has an international-sized playground for soccer and rugby.
They have a 10-year master plan for the school to build 15 new classrooms, science lab, library, washrooms and swimming pool.
