Police Minister Ioane Naivalurua has promised a full investigation into what he called a “very serious case” after a Counter Narcotics Bureau officer was charged over a 4.8kg meth seizure.
He appeared at the Nadi Magistrate Court yesterday.
Counter Narcotics Bureau member Apenisa Matadigo, 39, appeared in court along with two others, 39-year-old Viliame Nalagi and 35-year-old Are Tanai.

Mr Naivalurua said the incident was troubling and pledged to root out corruption within the bureau.
“The Counter Narcotics Bureau is working hard to fight illicit drugs,” Mr Naivalurua said.
“But we must have ethically solid people in the unit. The public can be assured of my commitment to thoroughly investigate this incident.”
The scandal has sent shockwaves through the law enforcement community, as the bureau is the country’s primary agency tasked with combating drug trafficking and abuse.
