About 20 students of a Nadi-based school were fortunate to receive books and packets of sanitary pads. This came as a kindly donated by the members of the Nakasi Youth Club.
The club’s president, Mohammed Shafil said the group was on a mission to assist several school students in the Western, Eastern and Northern Division.
Mr Shafil said the club’s recent donation was to the students of Nalovo Sangam School in Nadi where Year 8 female students received the donated box of sanitary pads.

He said the majority of the students who received the donation came from families whose parents were either farmers or laborers.
“When the request came from the school to assist the students, we did not hesitate,” he said.
“The assistance of sanitary pads to the female students was our priority because we have female members in our club; we have mothers and sisters and we are familiar with the critical need to have sanitary pads.”
He said the club aimed to help many school students by the end of March.
“Our target in the Western Division is to help 300 students, for the Central we are currently giving out help as well and we will begin in the North this week,” he said.
“Once we are done by March assisting all students, we will move on to our next project which is to also provide immediate needs like sanitary pads to single mothers in the different communities.”
