Nalawa Chief Enforces Strict COVID-19 Restrictions For District
He said one of the restrictions was a curfew from 5pm to 5am within the villages.

Tui Nalawa Ratu Epeli Niudamu has directed the enforcement of several COVID-19 restrictions.
These will be enforced in the 18 villages of Nalawa District in the Ra Province.
The purpose of this is to avoid the potential transmission of the new COVID-19 Omicron variant.

Bose Vanua Nalawa chairman Josaia Niudamu said a meeting called on Wednesday had endorsed the decision by their chief.
He said one of the restrictions was a curfew from 5pm to 5am within the villages.
“There will also be this limitation of visitors coming to our district in Nalawa, secondly for the funeral, if limited numbers can attend and only close relatives of family members to attend funerals of their loved ones, thirdly for the COVID-19 protocols to be strictly monitored amongst the 18 villages in Nalawa,” he said.
He said parents were also being asked to carefully monitor the COVID-19 protocols which have been laid down by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, such as wearing face-masks and strictly monitoring a two-metre social distancing when in public or going to school.
