Nalumisa urges Suva residents to register for local polls
Housing Minister Maciu Nalumisa calls on residents within Suva’s municipal boundary to sign up, stressing participation is key to representation and accountability.

Minister for Housing and Local Government Maciu Nalumisa is urging residents within the Suva municipality to register for the upcoming local government elections, stressing the importance of having a voice in local decision-making.
Speaking to community members at Raiwaqa, Mr Nalumisa reminded residents that they fall under a municipal boundary and are part of the Suva city system, making them eligible to participate in the electoral process.
“There is a very important nation-al event coming up, which is the local government election,” he said.

He encouraged eligible residents to register with the Fiji Elections Office, noting that registration will allow them to elect representatives for their respective wards and con tribute to the governance of the city.
“As we speak, residents that live within these town boundaries have every right to go and register so that you also have the right to elect whoever is going to represent you,” Mr Nalumisa said.
He informed the community that registration will take place at the Suva Civic Centre, opening from Monday and also available on Saturday from 9am to 3pm. He urged residents not to miss the opportunity, highlighting that active participation ensures stronger representation and accountability at the municipal level.
