Trying to help with the precautionary measures against COVID-19, one man has been seen selling masks and gloves in the capital city.

Namaia Salavo, 46, from Levuka, began his small business after the first COVID-19 case was confirmed within the country.

He said people would definitely buy face masks and hand gloves for their safety since many stores were out of stock.

“The pandemic is in Fiji already with five confirmed cases and I see people still struggling to look for masks and gloves,” he said.

Mr Salavo also said it was a good way to earn money for his family as the items he sold were in high demand. He said he earns around $200 a day.

“I voluntarily buy gloves and masks from Chotu Bhai Company.”

He said he starts selling his products from 7am to 5pm.

“I sell face masks from three to five dollars and hand gloves for one dollar a pair,” he said.

He also sells umbrellas and socks for the rainy weather.
