Ms Naicker said Jiya was a member of the multicultural centre for the past eight years.
“We have lost a shining star, a girl with good leadership skills, an intelligent child with the good public speaking ability and a brilliant daughter with so many skills,” she said.
“She knew how to play tabla, harmonium and a few other musical instruments.”
Ms Naicker said Jiya was always interested in learning.
“All I can say is, we have lost a good artist who had a good experience of musical talent,” she said.
“I have lost many people in my life, but this loss was more like my personal loss, I still can’t believe she is no longer with us, she was so close to me and my family.”
The police investigation into the matter continues.
