With a strong message of unity, diversity, and community spirit, organisers launched the Vodafone Nasinu Festival last night at the Laqere Market.

Minister for Finance, Biman Prasad, who officiated at the event, reminded Fijians that the country’s greatest strength lies in its ability to embrace inclusivity.

“These moments, side by side, remind us that Fiji’s strength lies in our ability to embrace diversity and inclusivity,” he said.
“And when we move forward as one people, we deliver prosperity for everyone.”

Mr Prasad said the contestants in this year’s Miss Nasinu competition were more than just beauty queens.

“They are ambassadors of the various wards and voices of the community, and I know each one of you will champion real issues in your communities,” he said.

The week-long festival will feature entertainment, food, and a platform for advocacy and awareness. It officially begins on Saturday and runs until October 11 at the Valelevu Grounds.

Seven contestants are vying for the Vodafone Miss Nasinu Crown this year:

  • Miss Nadera – Adi Mereoni Sebualala
  • Miss Makoi – Asupa Taivoce
  • Miss Valelevu – Ailava Samuels
  • Miss Kinoya – Talei Tikonavesi
  • Miss Tacirua East – Nanise Daveta
  • Miss Caubati – Priyanka Sharma
  • Miss Nadawa – Ro Bola Vaniqi

The contestants represent communities across Nasinu and will highlight issues close to their hearts during the festival.

Mr Prasad added that festivals like this are vital for strengthening community ties.

“Events such as this enhance community spirit and togetherness in the country,” he said.

The Vodafone Nasinu Festival is expected to draw families, businesses, and supporters, bringing colour, joy, and meaningful conversations to Fiji’s largest municipality.
