Naupoto Resigns as Opposition Whip

Speaker of Parliament announced that Independent Opposition MP Jone Usamate will act in the role until a substantive appointment is made.

Opposition Member of Parliament (MP) Viliame Naupoto has resigned from his position as Opposition whip in Parliament.

This was confirmed by Speaker of Parliament Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu at the beginning of the session yesterday morning.

Mr Naupoto, who recently became an independent MP, has pledged his support for Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka for the remaining parliamentary term.
