Navosa Farmer Killed In Road Accident

A Navosa farmer, Ratu Meki Kulagori was believed to have hired a carrier to Nadi when he faced a road accident along the Valley Road at Navula, Sigatoka which ended his life.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the victim died allegedly as a result of injuries sustained during the vehicle accident on Sunday night.

The 45-year-old deceased from Draiba Village was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a man in his late 50s from Sawene, Navosa.

The driver allegedly failed to negotiate a bend causing the vehicle to veer off the road.

Ratu Meki died at the scene of the accident while the driver and a 14-year-old student from Draiba Village are currently admitted at the Sigatoka Hospital.

The deceased’s relative, Kitione Rokoraua said Ratu Meki was believed to have hired a carrier to transport a bullock to Nadi for an occasion.

“To our understanding, the victim had hired that carrier to Nadi to transport a cow for an occasion,” Mr Rokoraua said.

“Unfortunately, that journey ended in a fatal road accident in which he was instantly killed.

“He was a farmer and he also had a business selling horse saddles.

“Ratu Meki will be greatly missed by his family.”

Ms Naisoro confirmed that investigations continue and a post mortem would be conducted to confirm the cause of death.
