Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said the woman’s signed account cleared the officer of criminal wrongdoing. However, he said an internal investigation into the officer’s conduct would continue.

The Fiji Police Force has ruled out any criminal element in a sexual harassment allegation against a Navua police officer after the woman in a viral video signed a statement denying she was a victim.

The Internal Affairs Department has completed its investigation into the incident, confirming the woman 'strongly refuted' claims of sexual harassment and stated she was never coerced by the officer.

Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said the woman’s signed account cleared the officer of criminal wrongdoing.

However, he said an internal investigation into the officer’s conduct would continue.

He said the organisation is committed to ensuring officers are held accountable for any form of misconduct, adding that internal disciplinary proceedings will be initiated where necessary.

“Restoring public trust and confidence requires every member of the organisation to uphold the ethics and values of the institution,” Commissioner Tudravu said.
