As part of the Navy Week celebrations, on Thursday the Republic of Fiji Navy marked the 5th Anniversary of the Fiji Maritime Surveillance Rescue Co-ordination Centre (FMSRCC).
The FMSRCC is the hub for joint surveillance of Fiji’s maritime domain within its 1.3 million sq km of EEZ and includes other agency border security officers who are seconded permanently or on an adhoc basis.
The centre also hosts the regional search and rescue coordination centre, which coordinates Search and Rescue across an area of 6.5 million square km, not just for Fiji, but other states within its search & rescue region.
