NDMO Urges Public To Refrain From Unnecessary Movements
Motorists were advised to refrain from driving into flooded roads and walkways as flood waters continued to rise.

The National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) has urged members of the public to avoid crossing flooded waters and stop unnecessary movements in flood-prone areas.
Yesterday, a Nadi Police officer was seen trying to stop motorists and residents from crossing flooded waters at the Nadi Back Road.
A few children were seen playing in flooded waters.

Motorists were advised to refrain from driving into flooded roads and walkways as flood waters continued to rise.
People were urged to be vigilant and continue to listen to advisories issued by the authorities and those living in low-lying, and flood prone areas were urged to immediately move to the nearest evacuation centre.
Residents of Nakolia Settlement and Tramline Nawaka settlements have been moving to the evacuation centre at the Andrews Primary School in Nadi.
Arvin Sharma, an advisory councillor of Votualevu, has been urging flood affected residents to move to the evacuation centre at Votualevu Public School.
“Please ensure to move in during daylight as the authorities will find it easier to manage and arrange food and shelter.
“Please don’t wait for nightfall to decide on seeking shelter. Kindly act now and stay safe,” he added.
The public have also been advised to contact Police on 917 and National Fire Authority NFA on 910 should they need assistance in moving to safety.
